The Martian

The Martian

By Andy Weir

Summery:
Mark Watney and his crew went on one of the first journeys to Mars. Although they were not out of disasters clutches as an unexpected storm hits the group, impaling mark with an antenna. Thinking he was dead they all went back to the ship and left, but Mark was very much alive. However, the problem for him now became contacting earth to come rescue him. On top of that, he only had enough food for 30 days and there will be no telling of how long Mark might be stranded on this planet. Once again, marks ingenuity does not fail him as he remembers plans for another launch in 4 years. This helps him because they have already sent the landing site, with lot of fuel and possibly a rocket. The only problem is that it is 3200 kilometers away. Mark must find a method of contacting Earth, a vehicle, and, a way to keep him from going insane as he says, "You probably wonder what I do in my free time." (Weir 241).

Rating: This book was very entertaining and had lots of comedy. Additionally there were many instances of cool problem solving methods. Therefore I will rate this book 4 and a half stars. The only thing it was missing was a space battle.
